Millions of Galaxies in the Universe with billions of Stars so why?
by shotgun inrecently a public speaker noted that the earth and humans are insignificant in comparison to the universe with its millions of galaxies and billions of stars.
my question to bible literalist's is... why did god confine satan and his demons to the vicinity of the earth with so many other uninhabited options?.
why not restrict them to uranus with a bunch of meat puppets to beat up?.

"I hope that Steve's idea is correct although it is similar to what the Mormons hope as well"
I knew I was at some risk of a Mormon analogy with my point of view. (Smile) But really, I don?t hold with any of their teachings (not knowingly anyway). If I understand their teaching correctly, it?s that everyone will become like little God?s ruling their own little worlds. Nah, I don?t believe that. It just seems to me that God is so generous with his creation to allow us to enjoy it with the five senses He has given us in THIS life, that it just seems logical to me that he would also provide a way for us to enjoy His greatest creation, the Universe itself, in the next life. When I die I hope I get the chance to fly through a Super Nova and enjoy all its beautiful wonders. And that?s just where I want to start exploring!

"They are the ones who cut off contact with me I am not going to just be a son of convinence to them. He also said some mean things about my fiancee and i don't think that I should have to accept them. I f they can act civilized and act like family then I would gladly keep them in my life."
I?ll tell you what someone older and wiser than me told me many years ago when I was still in my twenties. If there is someone in your life that causes you more grief than pleasure, then its perfectly acceptable and appropriate to exclude him or her form your life. It?s sad that in this case that that would be your own parents, but the principle applies non-the less. I know you love your folks my friend, but there may come a time when you come to the realization that severance is a viable option. You?ve acted appropriately. You can?t expect everyone else to do the same.

I took an astronomy course for an "easy" elective back in my college days, and I've never looked at the sky the same way again! The Universe is so vast that even one trained in the sciences can?t comprehend it. If I remember correctly, there are a hundred million stars in the average galaxy and there are literally billions of galaxies. There are supposed to be more stars in the heavens than there are grains of sand on the earth. Uh, try to comprehend that! And even if you could travel at the speed of light, 186,000 miles a second (that?s like seven times around the earth in a second) it would still take you at that speed five years to get to the nearest star, Alpha Centuri. And that star is considered by astronomers to be in our own backyard.
Personally I think if there IS a plan that God has for man in the afterlife sense that is, is that we will be able to visit all these planets that must be orbiting around many if not most of the stars we see. Why else would he create it if not for us to have fun exploring it? We will never have the technology to travel at the speed of light (I guess never say never), in flesh form. But what if God?s plan when we die is to simply say, hey pick a route and go explore! I made it just for you. Also, whose to say that our dead loved ones haven?t been planted on these distant shores? I dunno. Maybe heaven is a cool planet rotating around a bright Star?
Just a thought . . .

The biggest LIE you believed as a JW...
by Waymores Ghost infor me it was the belief that all people who refuse to become jws are intrinsically bad.
if someone doesn't accept the "truth", naturally it's because "satan-the-devil" has hardened their hearts.
when you're a dub, you tend to ignore the ramifications of this.

How far back do you remember?
by dh inwhat are your first memories?
i started to write a post about this the other day but it turned into a bio, so i deleted it.. my first memory is my mom carrying me into a house and putting me on the floor with another boy, and talking to some guy behind me while i watched the other kid playing with a board game.
it turned out that the other kid was my older brother, the man was my real father who i never met, and because of the time frame of events i was well under a year old when this happened.. i also remember being rocked to sleep as a baby by my mom, and trying to tell her i wasn't tired but not being able to.. do you have early memories?

One of my first memories of the JW life is me and my mom the Paradise book and a belt, out on the front porch. I had a terrible attention span and I got it when I would wander off. Yea, it's no wonder I "loved" this fking relilgion with an introduction like that!
Good question, by the way.

I couldn't imagine life with a JW mate. I'm afraid I'd have to cut my losses and start over. What could you possibly hope to have in common with a Jehovah's Witness if you weren't one yourself. (Are you a former JW?) I grew up in a split household where my mom was a JW and my dad was an atheist. Its just too much strain on two people to live with one another with such different ideals. Marriage is hard enough with someone you do share the same ideals with, but it?s a train wreck waiting to happen otherwise. If there aren?t children involved then I would seriously considered some alternative possibilities. If there are children, then God help you, you have a tough road ahead of you dear.
